The Nubay Platform
Nubay provides a fully configured and integrated platform of open source applications for non-profits. There are no software license fees for this technology.
Amazon Web Services (AWS)
We host the Nubay platform using Amazon Web Services (AWS) instances. AWS is the leading provider of "cloud" hosting solutions. The choice of AWS allows Nubay to select from the best open source applications for our clients and integrate them on the same hosted platform. By assembling these applications on a common platform monitoring, backups and other management and support tasks can be simplified and automated.
Our AWS instance use what is called the LAMP stack. That is, Linux operating system, Apache web servers, MySQL database and PHP programming language. These are the most popular technologies used on the Internet.
Two open source applications act as the "anchor tenants" for Nubay - Drupal, a Content Management System (CMS) and CiviCRM. A comprehensive integration of these two popular web applications/frameworks permits non-profits to benefit from the following components of the Nubay platform:
From the CiviCRM home page:
CiviCRM is an open source CRM built by a community of contributors and supporters, and coordinated by the Core Team. CiviCRM is web-based software used by a diverse range of organisations, particularly not-for-profit organizations (nonprofits and civic sector organizations). CiviCRM offers a complete feature set out of the box and can integrate with your website.
CiviCRM is created and used by a global community of tens of thousands of individuals and organisations. The CiviCRM vision is that 'all organisations – regardless of their size, budget, or focus – have access to an amazing CRM to engage their contacts and achieve their missions'. Our roadmap outlines the shorter term goals we are implementing to achieve our vision. For more details on CiviCRM feature and capabilities, please refer to the CiviCRM User Guide.
From the Dupal web site:
A powerful open source solution for the .org community. Drupal is the open-source CMS choice for some of the world’s most influential nonprofits to create, customize and amplify their mission in order to effect real-world change.
Drupal is used by hundreds of Nonprofit and NGOs:
- Ready-to-go — Drupal provides a multitude of out-of-the-box functionalities that help your nonprofit manage, collect and disseminate content from the get go.Switch to plain text editor
- Scalable — As your nonprofit mission grows, Drupal grows with you to connect your main website, your campaigns and any other microsites you decide to launch.
- Organized — Drupal’s robust taxonomy allows you to easily tag, categorize and organize complex content so that your nonprofit message stays strong and connected.
Nubay selected Drupal as it's CMS solution because of it unmatched integration with CiviCRM. For those who believe a database should be tightly integrated with their website and do not have the resources to fund customized development, the CiviCRM-Drupal combination is unmatched.
